Day #62, country #10 of the trip, 39 of a lifetime
I’m in Barcelona! It’s been two days already and every expat I meet is in love with the place. It’s easy to see why. The city is inexpensive, beautiful and very social.
Everyone keeps asking how I got out of Paris and the answer is really simple: I bought a ticket, boarded a train, and left.
Contrary to what many believe, the country is not still on lock down. Trains were leaving Gare d’ Lyon station the day after the attacks.
To be honest, the scariest moment I had while in Paris was my last few moments in the train station. The place was packed with people and suitcases; it looked like the ideal target. But we all managed to get on without incident despite my fears.
When tragedies occur, people say things like: What is this world coming to? As a student of history, I know that the world has always been like this. For this reason, we all need to to live with as much truth and intention as possible. For me, the journey of living begins again in Barcelona.
This is too juicy. I had visions of secret door knocks, coded messages, bribes and a wild chase over treacherous terrain. Now you tell me you bought a train ticket? Smh
It’s an old bait and switch that mirrors the one-sided view created by the media. It was just sitting there. I couldn’t resist.
